NCT 127 is celebrating a decade together with BLINGY, its seventh full-length album and a project built around the group’s identity. During an August 24 press conference, the members described the release as a return to their roots while also reflecting the changes they have experienced over the past 10 years.
In discussing the album, the group explained that BLINGY keeps the experimental hip-hop sound associated with NCT 127 while exploring different textures and influences. The title track carries a message of searching for something special before realizing that quality already exists within yourself.
The album arrives during a period of transition for the group. Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, and Haechan are currently promoting together, while Doyoung and Jungwoo are completing military service. The two members still appear on the fan-focused track 127 Million Miles, which was recorded before their enlistment.
The members also pointed to their individual projects as experiences that helped them grow. With BLINGY, NCT 127 is using its 10th anniversary to reconnect with its signature sound while continuing into a new stage of the group’s career.
