Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have reached another major milestone with WAP. The Recording Industry Association of America certified the 2020 collaboration Diamond on August 3, confirming 10 million certified units in the United States.

The new certification arrives nearly six years after the song’s release. Industry records show that WAP debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and became one of the most commercially successful collaborations between two female rappers.

WAP was released in August 2020 alongside a colorful music video featuring appearances from Normani, Rosalía, Kylie Jenner, Sukihana, Mulatto, and Rubi Rose. The song generated strong streaming numbers during its opening week and remained a major cultural talking point throughout the year.

The Diamond award adds another high-level certification to both artists’ careers. It also gives Cardi B her fourth Diamond-certified song, extending her record among female rappers.

For Megan Thee Stallion, the achievement marks another lasting success from a period that also included major chart hits and several prominent collaborations. WAP remains one of the defining rap releases of the early 2020s.
