Bonnie Tyler has been placed in a medically induced coma while recovering from emergency intestinal surgery.

A representative for the 74-year-old singer said doctors induced the coma to aid her recovery. The statement also asked for privacy and said another update would be shared when available.

A post on Tyler’s official website said she was admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, for the procedure. The post said the surgery went well and that she is now recuperating.

Tyler is widely known for the 1983 hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, along with other recordings including Holding Out for a Hero and It’s a Heartache.

Her official tour schedule still lists upcoming dates. The next listed performance is May 22 at the SummerLUST Music Festival in Għaxaq, Malta. Additional European and U.K. dates are listed through Dec. 17 in Cardiff, Wales.

No further medical details have been released.
