Josh Groban is preparing to release a new album built around songs closely tied to famous films. The project, titled Cinematic, is scheduled to arrive May 8 and brings together Groban’s interpretations of well-known movie themes.
The singer confirmed the album while discussing the project around the time of his scheduled appearance at the Oscars. The collection focuses on songs connected to major films, including titles associated with Casablanca, The Godfather, The Lion King, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Pinocchio, Ghost, and Coco.
Several tracks feature special collaborations. Groban performs Can You Feel the Love Tonight with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. A duet with Jennifer Hudson appears on Unchained Melody, a song widely linked with the film Ghost. Another track, Moon River, includes a personal touch with Groban’s father, Jack Groban, contributing trumpet.
The album reflects Groban’s long interest in film music and classic songwriting. Many of the selections are closely tied to iconic scenes and moments in movie history.
Alongside the album release, Groban continues preparing for upcoming live performances, including dates connected to his GEMS World Tour and a Las Vegas residency.
