Burt Meyer, the toy designer behind Lite-Brite and Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots, has died at age 99. His son, Steve Meyer, confirmed his death on Oct. 30 to The New York Times. Burt also developed Mouse Trap, Toss Across, Pretty Pretty Princess, and Catch Phrase. He is survived by three children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. (Story URL)
Rupert Grint says he wrote a letter to Alastair Stout, the actor cast as Ron Weasley in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. German actor Udo Kier, known for his work with Andy Warhol, Lars von Trier and Madonna, died Sunday in Palm Springs, his partner Delbert McBride confirmed. He was 81. Director Gus Van Sant introduced Kier to U.S. audiences with My Own Private Idaho in 1991. Kier also collaborated with von Trier on Breaking the Waves, Dogville and Melancholia. (Story URL)
